I did download something........but getting it to work is another story.

if it's a rar or zip file, extract it and then run the .exe

Yea, that didn't work.
When they put a .exe into the actual program that works then I'll give this airline game a try again. 
This looks nothing like any other game I've downloaded and got working with the  .exe command
