I was think that it would be nice to setup a research & development team if you can afford it, so that way you can unlock certain technologies faster. For example different kinds of seats, meals, but also advertising methods etc.
But you can also extend it to other aspects of the game like researching turnarounds so you can make them shorter. Then your airline gets a bonus on the turnaround time. Example: turnaround time normal is 60 minutes but with the bonus 50 minutes. If you want the maximum flights between two destinations this could have a great impact.

ooo that's a nice idea. A similar thing can be implemented for baggage handling. You can have a certain % of bags lost/(flight or year) which reduces your customer satisfaction, which in turn affects demand because people will choose to fly with a more reliable airline. you can research improved handling and tech like bag tracking to reduce that %
