I can report some of my own experience regarding adding multi-week rotations after using single-week-roations only before:

Our dev-team came to the conclusion that it is better to the related parts from scratch, rather then adding the new function to the old code. We tried that during the early stages and messed up completly. Now we have a clean code that supports both single and multi-week rotations.
