Game Related Issues and Bugs

Help! The game doesn't launch.

The first time you launch the game, Windows will tell you the game might harm your system. Click 'more info' and select 'allow'.

You need to make sure you have Framework .NET installed. Without this program the game won't start.

If that wasn't the cause, give the game some time to launch. Close all other programs. TAP is a very heavy game because it has to deal with a lot of data. Sometimes the launch might take a couple of minutes.

If the game still doesn't launch after a couple of minutes, check your game directory for a file called 'TAPv2.txt'. This is our crash log. Please share this file with us via any channel and we will fix it as soon as possible.

If the game did not create the crash log, send us your system specs and language settings. We will do our best to search for the cause.

Where can I file a bug report?

You can send us your bug report via any official channel. But we will be able to help you best if you file it on our forum.

Before sending the bug report, please check in the game directory whether the game created a file called 'TAPv2.txt' and send it along.

Development

Will you ever create a Mac or Linux version?

We currently have no plans to port the game to other operating systems. If we have news about this we will certainly let you know. Perhaps when we hit the Beta phase, who knows?

Can you add this airline or that airport?

Sure we can! Send us your request in the forum, preferably with a source. Or better yet, you can create the airline/airliner/airport yourself, and we will gladly implement it in the game for the next version. Read more about creating your own files in the tutorial section.

Can I contribute in any way?

You can contribute in many ways. you can help us by creating new airlines and airports. Or keeping existing airports and airlines up to date by sharing news. Read more about creating these files in the tutorial section.

Besides adding new data, you can also help by trying to break the game and looking for bugs. Or by suggesting new ideas or improvements on certain features.

Is the game still open source?

The first version of The Airline Project was open source. Inevitebly this led to quite a few bugs, worse performance and some inconsistencies which we are still fixing to this day. For this reason we prefer to keep the devteam smaller and every asset created by a user is checked before implementation.

On the other hand, every asset (except for the coding) is still within reach of the players. The files are easy to read and edit, meaning that each user can edit them to their likings or send updates to us.

Are you planning on an online version?

There are no plans to make the game playable in any online setting. At some point we might consider making the game playable via LAN or online, but that won't be for the near future.

When is the next release or patch coming?

For releasing new versions, we have a very simple policy: it's ready when it's ready. We've learned it the hard way that release date promises will get broken, even by a month if needed. We prefer to serve a product with as few bugs as possible.
