First, sorry if i'm posting too much, i'm just full of suggestions and questions
Anyway this suggestion is about being able to choose the airliner types that other airlines will order/buy/lease. In real life for example American Airlines ordered dc-10s in the late 60s, in the game however instead they go along the lines of ordering ~50 il-62s (Soviet planes... in the middle of the cold war). My idea is not some fancy AI or something, just a simple tag in the airline xml files, something like:
Code: <onlyoperate aircraft="MD DC-10-10","Boeing 737-800","Boeing 727-100","Airbus A300-600","Insert ~40 aircraft here"></onlyoperate>
My only request is to make it optional, so that there is an onlyoperate tag which is not filled in, so that players can fill it in if they want to.
I dont want to bore/spam you so i'm not gonna talk anymore about this idea, unless you want to of course
Thats it, Thank You.

As long as each post has added value, you can't post too much.
I think you are suggesting this tag in the xml:
Code: <prefereds aircrafts="Airbus A319-100,Airbus A320-200,Airbus A330-200,Airbus A330-300,Boeing 737-300,Boeing 737-400,Bombardier Dash 8-400,Avro RJ100 Avroliner"></prefereds>
This example comes from Brussels Airlines if you want to check it out.

1.
2. Thank you but i dont think thats what i'm looking for, as that is only preferred aircraft (Right?), as i would love to be able to choose exactly what aircraft they can or (more likely) cant operate, for historical accuracy (or just for fun!).

I tested it: I gave the airline only the option to buy A319's.
50% of the aircraft it bought were A319's, the other 50% were aircraft meant for long haul flights.
So I guess it's kind of working.
You can put it in the preferred aircraft list.
At some point we'll make an option for the airline to be a little more strict with the list.
Probably when we're redoing the AI.
Edit: Upon second look, it doesn't work that well when you have more than 1 preferred airliner.
You can still put it in this list, we'll make sure it works.

Edit Reason: Still no image
)
It works
Thank you, but i think i might have found a bug with their routes.
I set up 1 competitor (Scandinavian Airlines, my national airline), and set them up with the aircraft list i made for them. And of course it worked, however when i looked at their routes they were all over the place, like this
I have no idea whats going on, as i have never had such a bug before.
Thats pretty much it.
Edit: For some reason the image isnt showing up for me, i dont know why, i will try to find a solution.
Edit2: The image still isnt working, you just have to trust me

But I know what you are talking about.
AI will receive an update, and we will fix this.
But that's a long way from where we are now.
First we will make sure the economy works and everything from the users perspective is in decent shape.

Anyway since we are on the suggestion forum i have a suggestion:
Aircraft total flown hours, and exact age, because i just feel that distance isnt enough.
Thank You.

This should be easy I guess. Perhaps we should include the amount of pressurizations the airliner underwent as well.
And put a maximum amount of pressurizations on aircraft?

Possibly
Also maybe after the airplane has been worn down, you had the possibility of either scrapping the aircraft, restoring it and flying with enthusiasts or selling it to a museum.
I also have the idea of being able to order an aircraft before it has been built, enabling the possibility of launch customers.
But thats just some ideas.
